Job Description

Overview

Reporting to the F&C Analyst, the F&C Associate will support statutory and national reporting obligations, accounting, including payroll. The role is also responsible  to ensure control over the Company’s assets, including Cash and Bank accounts, and to assist the Team to ensure a robust internal control framework. 

Key Accountabilities

Accounting and Internal Control

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely accounting of transactions and associated Financial Reporting including the reconciliation of control accounts, e.g. Debtors control account to reconcile to Debtors list as per Sales Ledger, Purchases Control account to reconcile to Creditors list as per Purchase Ledger, Freight, import and handling charges to be reconciled to the respective absorption control accounts, Accruals, and prepayment account to be backed up by appropriate lead schedules.
  • Assist the F&C Manager to develop and maintain the Company’s internal control framework. Ensure accurate reconciliations & reporting of internal accounts.
  • Contribute to the Company’s controls environment to ensure that controls are in place and to ensure compliance within set policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the execution of Audit related activities as may be required.
  • Compile and reply to the annual surveys/audits required by the Company.

Manage cash and in-house bank accounts

  • Manage in-house Bank accounts. Prepare Bank reconciliations and seek review confirmation from Finance and Compliance Manager.
  • Manage and reconcile cash positions.

Payroll calculation and control

  • Perform payroll operations and ensure compliance (incl. tax), in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate accounting to the General Ledger and perform necessary GL reconciliations.
  • Champion data structuring & preliminary analysis of the payroll function.
  • Ensure that recruitment is aligned to budget and report deviations at job offer stage.
  • Ensure that overtime is aligned to production manning plan and duly approved by the respective Manager.
  • Ensure that Subcontracted labour requirements is aligned to production manning plan and duly approved by the respective Manager.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure all data is reviewed and up to date.
  • Manage the payroll related tax benefits and obligations of the organisation. Report on any tax benefits that the Company might be eligible for.
  • Ensure compliance to tax legislation, employment regulations and internal SOPs.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

  • MQF5 level Degree in Accountancy or in progress of studying ACCA.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-year overall experience. With particular focus on FMCG.
